'Out Of Habit' – The New Drop From Death By Denim
Aiden Miskella
Perth-based Death By Denim have dropped their third track of the year in the form of ‘Out Of Habit’. A punchy and guitar-driven hit, ‘Out Of Habit’ sets the tone for the bands’ upcoming debut album, set to hit the waves later this year.
With the year flying by on a wobbly and unprecedented track, we have to thank bands like Death by Denim for releasing their third, and might we say best yet, single of 2020. After the summer release of ‘Homemade’, and their later single ‘Jump to Mars’, from the depths of the Death by Denim cooking pot comes “Out of Habit”, a laid back, careless blend of punchy drums, boppy synth and silky guitars that set the scene of an individual who can’t escape their foolish tendencies.
With hints of Tame Impala and Sticky Fingers lingering in the track, the band are really setting us up for their forthcoming debut album, set to release at the end of the year. Not only with the new single, but with their upcoming nearly sold out ‘World Tour’ of Western Australia, because in the wise words of Death by Denim, “no one else seems to have their s*** together”.
In four piece’s break-out year of 2019, they opened Falls Festival Fremantle, sold out shows across Australia and signed a management deal with Lemon Tree Music. They saw radio success with single “Wiggy” being added to rotation on Triple j, peaking at number 3 most played on the station and taking out a top 50 spot in the Unearthed most played tracks of the year.
They have continued their form with a strong start to 2020, with ‘Jump to Mars’ being premiered on Triple J, and ‘Homemade’ being added to their high rotation. Along with this success, they have announced that they have signed with Paradigm Agency for bookings in the United Kingdom and Europe, leading us to believe that they have much bigger things in the works!
This signing sees them join the likes of Ziggy Alberts and Vance Joy on the roster of Paradigms Tom Taaffe, with him only having great words to speak of the band - “I’m incredibly excited to join the Death by Denim team. I came across them knowing very little but on first listen they had me hooked. Their ability to craft great songs gives me a huge amount of confidence the band’s European fan base will grow very quickly. Western Australia punching above its weight yet again”.
