Let’s go back to the beginning, how did Pinkish Blu come to be?

We were 4 friends that decided to turn our passion for music into something creative. It all happened fairly quickly. We began practicing and came up with the name in Brice’s bedroom, writing name ideas on his mirror.

You released ‘Red Hot Moon’ on March 27, how does it feel to have this one out in the world?

It’s been a long time coming, I still remember hearing the demo for Red Hot Moon in early 2018. That demo really ignited our belief that the band could actually go somewhere. It’s amazing to finally show the world what we’ve been obsessed with for the last couple years behind closed doors.

What was the creative process behind ‘Red Hot Moon’? What kind of things inspired the track?

Red Hot Moon was one of the more simpler songs to write. An early inspiration for the structure of the song was ‘Don’t Delete The Kisses’ by Wolf Alice.

Your debut EP ‘theres no such thing as good people’ is scheduled for May 22. What can fans expect from the EP?

Our EP ‘no such’ for short, encapsulates our evolution sonically over the past couple years. At times, lyrically, it can either be introspective, romantic, heartfelt, heartbroken or just plain relatable. Kind of what people have come to expect from Pinkish Blu.

The title of your EP is right in line with your sad-pop image, what inspired the title?

It is inspired by a Friedrich Nietzsche quote. Have a Google to figure out which one.

You released your first track ‘Lovely’ back in 2018, how does the music on your upcoming EP differ from your earlier tracks?

no such’ is on quite a different level to our first couple singles. This EP will point listeners in the direction of where the band is heading sonically and we couldn’t be more excited to bring everyone along for the ride.

What does the future look like for Pinkish Blu?

We’re hoping to utilise this crazy (Covid-19 inflicted) time by putting our heads down and writing and recording some more music, we believe that the people need new music and something to look forward to now more than ever. Hopefully we can finish off the year by playing some shows too! Fingers crossed - Stay inside!
