My Summer in North America
“You are in control. Your choices define you. Get out there and have the time of your life.”
Before arriving to the Americas, I never experienced a northern hemisphere summer. It’s my favourite season out of the year. The days are long, the weather is warm and people are happy to be spending their time outside. Everyone knows the warm weather and sunny days are numbered. You are in control. Your choices define you. Get out there and have the time of your life. You’re only as young as you are right now.
I spent my summer in the Canadian rockies. Rock climbing the routes i’ve only seen others before me in climbing magazines. I never thought that one day I could be on the same rock myself. I ventured into the deepest valleys Canada had to offer. I climbed 11,000 ft peaks and experienced deep connection to the landscapes I saw. However these journeys didn’t come with promised safe passage. I’m very happy to say that the people I adventured with, all got to safety in the times, were safety was miles upon miles away.
People spend their summers differently in the north. It’s to be expected, being cooped up for most of the year because of the extreme weather. I had the opportunity to explore the rockies with some of the most interesting people i’ve ever met.
So get out there and enjoy the beautiful world. Stay safe and have fun.
